1kg gold worth 55L seized from airport

Kolkata: Customs officials at Kolkata airport seized more than 1kg gold from two passengers who were smuggling the metal into India from abroad on Friday.
Around 449g of gold paste was hidden inside a woman’s rectum who returned from Bangkok. Air Intelligence Unit officers were suspicious of the way she was walking and questioned her. They fed her bananas to extract the contraband.
Officers also seized 542g of gold from a man returning from Abu Dhabi who was carrying it in a hidden pocket.
The market value of the total seizure is Rs 55 lakh, officials said. TNN
