Elderly citizens duped by ₹23L in gold trade, cryptocurrency
Nagpur: An elderly woman, aged around 61-year-old, was duped to the tune of around Rs23 lakh by online fraudsters between December 20 and January. The fraudsters had lured the victims promising her high rewards in cryptocurrency schemes.
The victim was added to a WhatsApp group by the unidentified fraudsters promising lucrative returns upon investing in a virtual gold trade and cryptocurrency.

The victim had transferred the amount from different accounts from time to time as the fraudsters promised returns every time they had sought money from her. An offense was registered at the cyber police station following her complaint as she did not get any profit returns upon her investments.

A 40-year-old businessman, Jeetendra Keswani, was arrested by Jaripatka police in an abetment to commit suicide case following a complaint filed by sister of his wife Vanshika who had ended life in August in 2022 at Hudkco Colony. Jeetendra used to allegedly harass and physically torture Vanshika doubting her character. Following the relentless torture, Vanshika had allegedly taken the drastic decision. Jaripatka police had earlier registered accidental death.
