Elon Musk has often taken jibes at his competitors and never really shies away from such comments. The X (earlier called Twitter) owner recently mocked Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for not using Threads, Meta's text-based social media app, enough. Musk agreed that Threads is like a "ghost town" and said that it is "eerily quiet." Not only this, the X owner also had a piece of advice for "Zuck," he said that one must use their own product.

For the unversed, Threads was launched in July this year and saw millions of downloads in the first five days. Reports said that the app reached 100 million sign-ups within five days of launch. However, it also saw a drop in daily users shortly after. Zuckerberg had also addressed the app's user retention issue during an internal meeting with his employees.

Elon Musk mocks Mark Zuckerberg

As per a report in Business Insider, Musk talked about Meta and Threads during The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. After the host called Threads a "ghost town", Musk agreed and said that it is indeed "eerily quiet".

"I mean, Zuck himself doesn't post," the Tesla CEO said and added, "You got to use your own product."

Zuckerberg, on the other hand, last posted on Threads about 6 days ago. He, however, often replies to users on the platform and his last response to a user was about 12 hours ago at the time of writing this story.

This isn't the first time that Musk has mocked Zuckerberg's usage of Threads. In July this year, a Twitter user had commented on how it had been six days since the Meta CEO posted on the app. To this, Musk replied that he doesn't seem to care about his new product.

The Twitter user wrote, "It has now been 6 days since the CEO of that other app has made a post. Did he give up on it already?" To this, Musk replied, "He doesn’t seem to care about his new product."

Meta CEO on Threads daily users

A recent Moneycontrol report quoted Mark Zuckerberg saying that Threads has "just under" 100 million users and the company plans on expanding more.

The Meta CEO, during the company's earnings conference call, said that Threads has "just under" 100 million monthly active users. He added that he is quite pleased with the way things are going, and that they are now going to focus on growing the community.

"I'm very happy with the trajectory. We're now getting to the point where we’re going to be focusing on growing the community further," Zuckerberg said.

Talking about his expectations from the platform in future, he added that he has been thinking of a "billion-person public conversations app that is a bit more positive."
