Although it is their 'cheapest' model it will still set drivers back an eye-watering £39,990.

However, the car giants believe the price is worth the car’s improvement in range - with the Model 3 able to travel over 400 miles on a single charge.

A Tesla UK spokesperson said: “Six years after the first car rolled off the assembly line and over 2 million units later, we are bringing a significant update to Model 3 rear-wheel drive and long range all-wheel drive.

“This update brings more refinement and comfort - inside and out – while staying true to its sleek, uncluttered design aesthetic.

More on Tesla

“We have not departed from what made Model 3 a global best-seller: delivering great range and efficiency with sports-car performance and handling at an approachable price point.

“The upgraded Model 3 is instantly recognisable as a Model 3 with a refined body and presence, better aero, new lighting, and a brand new interior that elevates what customers love about Model 3.”

Fitted around the Model 3 are eight cameras, forward radar and twelve ultrasonic sensors enabling active safety technologies including collision avoidance and automatic emergency braking.

It comes after a Tesla driver was recently slapped with a whopping £17,000 bill after their car battery was damaged in the rain.

And another driver told The Sun Online of his nightmare experience using his EV at the UK's 'worst' services.

Meanwhile, EVs could force a new law that sees parking bays made larger over increased fears over fire safety.
