Pfizer voluntarily recalls certain antibiotics over 'quality concerns'

Pfizer voluntarily recalls certain antibiotics over 'quality concerns'
MUMBAI: Pfizer India has initiated a voluntary recall of certain life-saving antibiotics due to quality concerns. In a letter to stockists, distributors and hospitals across India, Pfizer asked for a temporary suspension of sale and distribution of Magzex, Zosyn, Magnamycin injections and Magnex forte supplies with immediate effect. The recall follows "technical issues" at its contract manufacturing site.
"The company was informed by its contract manufacturer, Astral SteriTech, that it has observed an out-of-specification during a routine environmental monitoring of its manufacturing block.
Astral manufactures three products for Pfizer - Magnex, Magnamycin and Zosyn. Out of an abundance of caution, Pfizer has decided to recall all batches of these products," a company spokesperson told TOI.
