I built a DIY privacy fence for $35 in minutes – I shopped at Target and Home Depot, my ‘pleats’ made it look expensive

WHILE trying to kick back and relax in her yard, a woman’s peace was quickly interrupted when she realized just how much her neighbors could see.

She decided to make her own privacy fence out of cheap chain store buys, and discovered it doesn’t take much time or money to make it look expensive.

YouTuber Jhanel (@redefydecor) calls herself a “DIYer ballin’ on a budget.”

Although she was “short on time and cash,” her latest project didn’t require much of those things.

She built a privacy fence for only $35.

The first thing you need to buy is a clothing rack, and Jhanel got hers for $9 from Target.

She built it in less than 20 minutes and then hung the $9 Home Depot curtain rings on the pole.

Moving on to the main coverage source, she found $7 curtains from a thrift store and created faux pleats out of them by folding portions along the top before clipping on the rings.

“The pleats make every curtain look great because it enhances them,” she said in the video.

Her next step was an optional one for aesthetic purposes: curtain end caps, which she got for $10 at Ikea.

“All I do is put a small bit of hot glue on the inside [of the end cap] and then place it on the clothing rack.

“Then take your hot glue and put another small bit on the back of the outside to connect the end cap and clothing rack.”

The final result was a makeshift curtain privacy fence that can be placed anywhere in your yard.

“Target’s garment rack is already standing at 5 feet, but you can place it on crates for style and height.”

To further elevate the appearance, she added faux vines and twinkle lights around the top.

"This could be an instant Instagram background too, for sure."
