He'll remain on the board of directors.

Rajiv Malik will retire as president of Viatris Inc. in April 2024, the Canonsburg-based pharmaceutical company announced.

Malik is a longtime pharmaceutical executive who joined Viatris' predecessor, Mylan, in 2007 after Mylan acquired Matrix Laboratories Ltd. where Malik was CEO. He joined Mylan as Global Technical Operations leader and was EVP and COO of Mylan from July 2009 to Decembr 2013. He was president of Mylan and retained the role when the company was combined with the Upjohn unit of Pfizer to forge Viatris (Nasdaq: VTRS) in 2020.

"He is the rarest of individuals who possesses a truly unique skillset. We could not have reached all of our successes to date without him," said Viatris Executive Chairman Robert J. Coury. Coury worked closely with Malik at Mylan and Viatris.

Malik will remain as a board member after his retirement.

"He has the deep respect of every member of the Viatris team, and I could not have asked for a better partner during my onboarding at the company," Viatris CEO Scott A. Smith said.

Said Malik in a statement: "Whether through our achievement of multiple first product approvals, fighting to overcome barriers to patient access around the globe, or literally changing the world through our unprecedented HIV/AIDS commitment, I could not be prouder of all that we have accomplished together."
