Ford has revealed the latest racing version of its seventh-generation Mustang at this year’s 24 Hours of Spa in eastern Belgium.

The new Ford Mustang GT4 racer is based on the hardcore Mustang Dark Horse and has been built in partnership with Multimatic. Sales and service for the racer will also be managed by the Canadian engineering firm.

The Mustang GT4 is set to make its global racing debut in 2024, with interested racing teams currently able to register their interest right now.

This racer is powered by a Ford Coyote-based 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine with an undisclosed amount of power and torque. For context, the US-spec Mustang Dark Horse produces 373kW and 567Nm.

This V8 engine is mated to a Holinger dog-ring transmission with paddle shifters that have a pneumatic actuation. The racer also features Multimatic DSSV dampers.

The Mustang GT4 has a unique aero package that includes a low front splitter and a large swan-neck rear wing, and features natural-fibre body panels.

This racer has a colourful livery that’s been adapted from Troy Lee Designs’ liveries for the Mustang GT3 and SuperVan 4.2.

The reveal of the new Mustang GT4 follows a few weeks after the reveal of the new Mustang GT3 that will also make its racing debut next year.

Ford has also revealed the Mustang Supercar, developed for racing in the Supercars Championship.

“Production for Australia-bound Mustangs is set to begin by late this year,” a Ford Australia spokesperson confirmed to CarExpert.

“Due to significant shipping time between the plant in Flat Rock, Michigan and Australia, we expect first arrivals in Q1, 2024.”

The document said pricing and specifications will be released by the end of June, with dealers to be informed of their allocations by the same time.
