Two arrested for burglary at house; 1 kg gold recovered
Mangaluru: CCB sleuths of the Mangaluru city police arrested two persons and recovered about a kilogram of gold ornaments. The accused are Ganesh Naik,26, from Karkala in Udupi, and Ranjith KR,26, from Virajapet in Kodagu.
City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain told reporters on Thursday, that the arrests and recovery were made in connection with a house-break theft case reported at the house of Aikala Harish Shetty between 6.30 pm on January 15 and 9 am of January 16, in Mulki police station limits.

Since the complainant claimed that a huge quantity of gold and silver jewellery and cash was stolen, the case was transferred to the CCB.
The case was cracked based on intelligence, as no clues or CCTV footage were available.
The police have recovered gold ornaments weighing 1kg worth Rs 55 lakh, and seized two mobile phones and an iron rod used for the crime. The total value of the seized items is Rs 56.5 lakh. The police are looking for two more accused, who are allegedly the masterminds of the crime, and are suspected to be in Kerala.
The accused Ganesh Naik and two others were also involved in a house-break and theft reported at Mangaluru Rural police station. With the arrest of Naik, this case has been solved, and the police have recovered the stolen car. Ganesh is also an accused in a Pocso case reported at Chikkamagaluru town police station. The accused met each other in the Chikkamagaluru jail.
The city police commissioner announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 to the CCB team led by ACP PA Hegde and inspector Shyam Sundar HM.
