Elon Musk Dismisses Tesla-McDonald's Cyber Spoon Partnership, Calls It 'Fake News'

Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday said that he is unaware of a partnership with McDonald’s Corp MCD to launch a Cyber Spoon.

“Fake news afaik [as far as I know],” Musk said. He was responding to a Tesla investor on X who said that Tesla China has partnered with McDonald’s to launch a ‘Cyber Spoon.’

Only 50,000 units will be made of the cyber spoon, priced at $4, the user noted while also sharing an image of a seemingly steel, angular spoon placed beside a McFlurry cup.

Following Musk’s response, the user shared screenshots of Tesla’s Weibo account where they are seen promoting the product. “It’s real Elon,” the investor wrote.

Why It Matters: Tesla has previously launched several products inspired by the Cybertruck including the stainless steel Cyberwhistle and a wireless charging platform in addition to typical themed goods such as t-shirts, socks, beanies, trucker hats, and hoodies.

In China, the Tesla shop even has a cat litter box with a design inspired by the Cybertruck and priced at 89 yuan.

At Tesla‘s annual shareholder meeting in May, Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck delivery event is scheduled for later this year. Recently, Musk said that the date of the event would be announced once Tesla is “ready."
