Starbucks charges $1 more for popular drink — and fans are furious

Starbucks drinkers are about to spend even more bucks at the popular coffee chain.

The fast food company will be charging customers an extra $1 if they ask for no water in their popular, fruity Refreshers drinks starting May 9 — and fans aren’t too happy.

A Starbucks rep told The Post that the customization uses more Refresher base, therefore leading to a price hike because of the additional liquid used.

“Starting May 9 there will be an additional cost of $1 for Starbucks Refreshers Beverages customized with no water, as this customization requires extra ingredients,” a statement provided by the company reads.

The icy beverage is concocted by using tropical juices, dried fruit inclusions, water, lemonade and sometimes coconut milk.

Starbucks’ response to The Post continued: “This change allows us to provide a more consistent approach to customization, similar to other beverage customizations such as an adding an espresso shot or syrup which incur an additional charge. Starbucks Refreshers Beverages can still be customized with light or no ice free of charge.”

Meanwhile, this new change is starting to cause a frenzy among Starbucks employees, as they are worried about possibly irate customers.

Several workers told Insider that they are afraid of the backlash that they may receive from Starbucks consumers.

As for those caffeinated sippers, they took to social media to discuss how they felt about the charge.

Among the Starbucks Refresher flavors are the Pineapple Passionfruit, the Pink Drink and the Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade. Starbucks

On TikTok, a Starbucks fan named Rayah shared a viral video in which she mentioned the price increase.

The clip garnered many comments from angry customers, with one noting: “A company this big worth billions of dollars and STILL being greedy af smh.”

Another tired sipper chimed in: “I’m so over this the drinks are so overpriced already.”

“I won’t be getting my pink drinks if I have to pay $1 for light ice. Like they already charge $$$ for 3 sips,” someone else added.

One person groaned: “Refreshers are the only thing that keep me besides cups but I guess I’ll be done with them 😓.”

“Yes this is true but don’t get upset with us baristas it’s not our faults,” one alleged worker warned. “I don’t think I’ll be ordering from there anymore! I buy two refreshers at a time so they just lost my business for this! I’m so disappointed w/ them!” another TikTokker commented.

Starbucks also recently caught flack for their new olive oil-infused coffee drinks.

The new Oleato line includes a Caffé Latte, Iced Cortado, Golden Foam Cold Brew, Oleato Deconstructed and Golden Foam Espresso Martini.

However, the offerings have been grossing people out and are reportedly causing stomach issues.

In a Starbucks subreddit thread titled “Olive oil drinks,” customers gave their honest reviews on the product.

“I wanted to throw up after [drinking it],” one user wrote, while another added: “I’ve tried them, and tbh [to be honest] after drinking them honestly they just felt sick to my stomach lowkey.”
