BitPay, a prominent cryptocurrency payment service provider, has partnered with global video game commerce company, Xsolla, to integrate the XRP token. On Tuesday, Bitpay announced this development on X stating;

This integration means that XRP is now an accepted payment method for a range of games, demonstrating the cryptocurrency’s  growing relevance in the gaming industry

Xsolla Embraces XRP as a Payment Option

Founded in 2005, Xsolla has been a key player in the gaming industry, offering essential tools to help game developers launch, monetize, and distribute their creations on a global scale. This collaboration, which started in 2014 when Xsolla began processing Bitcoin payments via BitPay, signifies a continued partnership that has since expanded to include various cryptocurrencies.

Xsolla manages payments of renowned online gaming platforms like and Roblox which boasts over 200 million monthly active users. Notably, with a daily active user base of 65.5 million, Roblox has witnessed substantial financial success, with users spending nearly $773 million on in-game purchases in the first quarter of 2023.

Following the development, BitPay will facilitate the integration of XRP, ensuring smooth connections with cryptocurrency wallets for users of the gaming platforms.

Xsolla and BitPay’s Partnership

Notably, in September 2023, BitPay announced that Xsolla would be among the first merchants to accept PayPal USD (PYUSD) for online transactions, adding another layer of versatility to their payment offerings.

Nonetheless, it’s worth mentioning that BitPay’s relationship with XRP has had its ups and downs, with BitPay initially integrating XRP in 2019, then suspending XRP transactions following the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple. However, with XRP’s recent classification as a non-security by a court ruling, BitPay reintroduced XRP in August, offering users the flexibility to use XRP for various transactions.

That said, besides Bitpay which boasts over 30 XRP accepting merchants ,the cryptocurrency has also been integrated by other key players such as with FCF Pay and Coinflip, enabling thousands of merchants to accept the cryptocurrency in payments worldwide.
