US: Ford to recall 112,000 F-150 trucks

WASHINGTON D.C.: On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that due to a rear axle hub bolt that could break, Ford Motor Co. will recall 112,965 F-150 trucks.

There is concern that the rear axle bolt may break, leading to wear within the axle, according to the US Consumer Protection Safety Commission.

This can have an impact on the power transfer to the rear wheels and can result in unintended movement when a truck is in park.

As the rear axle hub bolt becomes loose, drivers may notice a clicking noise, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the bolt breaks, drivers might hear a rattling noise.

As of December 2, 2023, there were 376 warranty reports related to this problem.

Owners will be notified by letter starting in late January 2024, but how the autos will be serviced has not been finalized.

Meanwhile, Ford says it is not aware of any reports of collisions or injuries related to this problem.
