First NVIDIA DGX H100-Ready Data Center Announced by Digital Realty

As part of the NVIDIA DGX-Ready Data Center program, Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), one of the biggest worldwide suppliers of cloud and carrier-neutral data center, colocation, and interconnection solutions, has announced that KIX13, its newest data center in Osaka, Japan, has been certified as NVIDIA DGX H100-ready.

The certification was given to KIX13 for its capacity to provide a specialized, strong, and resilient environment designed for large-scale deployments of demanding computing systems.

NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, which is based on DGX H100, the fourth generation of the company’s purpose-made artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, would offer the computing power required to train the most advanced deep learning AI models available today and to spur innovation for years to come. It would allow for data localization while addressing the global coverage, capacity, and connection requirements associated with implementing AI at scale, enabling corporate clients to create full-stack solutions that speed up artificial intelligence (AI) deployments.

With applications in areas including optimization, preventative maintenance, virtual assistants, fraud detection, and anomaly detection, AI is quickly emerging as a driving force behind contemporary technology across a variety of sectors. The effectiveness of AI installations, which are anticipated to assist in tackling the world’s most difficult issues, depends on data centers that can provide the high-performance cooling, layout, and connection needed for AI to function quite successfully.

Leaders in the technology would increasingly be looking for real-time data access as a primary strategy to allow instantaneous adjustments and decision-making as contemporary organizations implement AI. Customers of Digital Realty can now “confidently” run AI workloads in an NVIDIA-accelerated environment to innovate and resolve the most difficult computational problems in the world thanks to the company’s highly connected PlatformDIGITAL community. Customers can streamline the management of their hybrid IT infrastructure and gain access to a growing, open community of partners through ServiceFabric, the global service orchestration platform from Digital Realty. All of this can be done on a single, centralized platform.

Digital Realty also offers the precisely tailored power and cooling digital infrastructure required to support the high-power processing requirements of AI, thanks to the scope and complexity of its products, the size of its client base, and its substantial technical resources. Due to its more effective heat dissipation, liquid cooling becomes a desirable alternative for AI installations at larger workload densities. Due to its extensive history in data center engineering, Digital Realty would be able to set up a data center environment that is prepared for the transition from air to liquid cooling. This would advance the company’s and its clients’ goals of cutting their Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 68% and Scope 3 emissions by 24%, respectively, by 2030.

Hardware and Software Purpose-Built for AI

Another accomplishment in the partnership between Digital Realty and NVIDIA is the KIX13 certification. At the program’s inception in 2019, Digital Realty was among the first data center providers to get the ‘DGX-Ready Data Center’ accreditation. The company now runs DGX-Ready data centers in more than 20 markets across the globe, including six locations in Asia Pacific.

According to Charlie Boyle, Vice President, DGX systems, NVIDIA, “Organizations looking to implement enterprise AI are investing in accelerated computing infrastructure – including hardware and software purpose-built for AI – to deploy their models into production quickly. Customers now have access to a flexible, straightforward alternative for installing the top AI platform in the world thanks to the accreditation of Digital Realty’s new KIX13 facility in the DGX-ready data center program.”

“Digital Realty is aware of how artificial intelligence (AI) will affect how companies pursue digital transformation in the years to come. The ability of businesses to incorporate the technology into their daily operations is where we come in,” said Chris Sharp, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Digital Realty. “However, commercial advancements made possible by AI can only be achieved if they are able to do so. We are committed to providing a meeting space that enables our clients to accelerate innovation and development thanks to Digital Realty’s KIX13 DGX-Ready Data Center accreditation.”

“AI is poised to have a dramatic impact on digital transformation initiatives, so it is crucial to have a foundation in place to get rid of the ‘Data Gravity’ barriers that prevent innovation,” he added. “For the data aggregation, staging, analytics, and administration necessary to optimize data interchange and uphold data compliance, PlatformDIGITAL offers the perfect setting.”
