For the second day in a row, both gold and silver prices recorded a downfall on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Friday, August 4, 2023.

Gold futures, maturing on October 5, 2023, stood at Rs 59,416 per 10 grams, after recording a marginal dip of Rs 52 or 0.09 percent. The previous close was recorded at Rs 59,432.

Similarly, silver futures, due on September 5, 2023, witnessed a downfall of Rs 272 or 0.38 percent and were retailing at Rs 72,349 per kg on the MCX against the previous close of Rs 72,522.

The price of gold varies for different regions in the country based on certain parameters such as the excise duty, making charges and the state taxes.

GOLD, SILVER PRICE IN INTERNATIONAL MARKET

Gold prices looked set to post their worst week in six on Friday as investors braced for a closely watched U.S. jobs report after a string of solid economic data this week drove Treasury yields to nine-month highs, news agency Reuters reported.

According to the latest metal report, spot gold was up 0.1 per cent at $1,936.15 per ounce by 0138 GMT, while U.S. gold futures rose 0.2 per cent to $1,971.70 per ounce.

Gold prices have declined more than 1 per cent so far this week, having slipped to their lowest level since July 11 in the last session.

Among other precious metals, spot silver gained 0.2 per cent to $23.6 per ounce.
