CB invokes abetment of suicide charges against 2
Thiruvananthapuram: Two months after the suicide of assistant public prosecutor (APP) S Aneeshya, the crime branch team probing the case has slapped abetment of suicide charges against deputy director of prosecution Abdul Jalil and APP Shyam Krishna.
By altering the Section 174 of CrPC registered for unnatural death with 306 of IPC for abetment of suicide, the probe team submitted a report before the judicial first class magistrate court-2 at Paravur on Wednesday.

However, the family and the people close to the deceased termed it an attempt to save face as the probe team altered the section when the mother of the deceased, Prasanna P M, approached the high court demanding a CBI probe.
The mother said she has no faith in the current investigation as the family requested repeatedly to book the accused under Section 306 of IPC ever since the incident took place. “Despite having the suicide note, which mentions clearly about the role of the accused and audio clips of the deceased speaking about the work-place harassments, the probe team was reluctant to alter the section. The abrupt move now is to stop the CBI from taking over the probe,” the mother said. Aneeshya, 41, of the Paravur munsif court in Kollam was found hanging in her house at Nedungolam on January 21 allegedly due to workplace harassment and threatening by higher-ups.
