Tesla Raises Yoke Steering Wheel Price Fourfold Amidst Recent Model S, X Price Adjustments

EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA has increased the price of its yoke steering wheel four-fold — available as a customization option on some of its vehicles.

The steering yoke option is now priced at $1000, instead of the previous $250. It is available as a customization only on the Model S and X. For customers looking to buy the cars without customizing the steering wheel, the circular steering wheel is included in the starting price of the vehicle.

Latest Price Cut Spree: Last week, Tesla cut the price of its Model S and X EVs in the U.S., with cuts ranging from 15.3% to 18.8%. After the price cut, the Model X is now also eligible for a tax credit of $7,500.

Tesla also decided to make all color options for Model S and X vehicles free, without any extra cost. This decision includes the ultra-red color, which previously carried a $3,000 fee. Full self-driving capability is also now 20% cheaper from its previous price tag of $15,000 despite Musk’s comments from before that it is already priced ‘very low.’
