Law catches up with burglar duo of man, son; gold recovered
Coimbatore: A notorious burglar and his father were arrested at Periyanaickenpalayam on Monday. Police seized 105.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery and recovered cameras worth 3.3 lakh from the two.
The Periyanaickenpalayam police identified the accused as Palanisamy, 47, and his son Arjun, 26, both from Madurai district.
Police said Arjun had broken into a house belonging to Vinobharathi, 30, of Poochiyur near Narasimmanaickenpalayam, on October 10 and stolen 70 sovereigns of gold jewellery.
His father had stood guard near the house to alert his son.
V Badrinarayanan, superintendent of police, Coimbatore district, had directed Periyanaickenpalayam subdivision DSP T Namashivayam to arrest the burglars and recover the stolen ornaments. Periyanaickenpalayam inspector Damodaran and team collected CCTV camera footage from the locality and arrested the two.
The father-son duo was produced before a judicial magistrate and later remanded in judicial custody.

He was apprehended and Rs 10 lakh was seized. Kumar claimed that Rajnish stole Rs 20 lakh, and he was also arrested with Rs 17.5 lakh found on him.
