US independent solar power producer MN8 Energy LLC has placed an order for 457 MW of American-made advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules from First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR).

The contract is for 170 MW of Series 6 Plus bifacial modules and 287 MW of Series 7 modules which will be used in projects in the northeastern and southern US, according to a statement released today.

Formerly known as Goldman Sachs Renewable Power LLC (GSRP), MN8 owns and operates 3.2 GW of solar capacity. Earlier this year, it secured USD 325 million (EUR 303.2m) from two investors to advance the growth of its business. In 2020, MN8 bought the 123-MW American Kings Solar project in California from First Solar.

The MN8 order came a day after First Solar sealed a deal with Birch Creek Energy to deliver 547 MW of its modules for multiple projects across the US.
