Cash, gold of ₹3.3cr stolen from store in Raviwar Peth
Pune: A jeweller of Rasta Peth filed a complaint that cash and gold ornaments together worth Rs3.3 crore was stolen from his jewellery store in Raviwar Peth between December 31,2023, and January 1, this year.
The Faraskhana police are investigating the case. Storeowner Deepak Mane (39) said in his complaint that he suspected that serving or former employees may be involved.
Senior inspector Dadasaheb Chudappa on Tuesday said, “Thieves gained access to the jewellery store by opening the locks on the shutters and safe with master keys.
They stole ornaments and Rs10.9 lakh before fleeing. CCTV footage has captured the images of two men.”
Chudappa said Mane runs a business of manufacturing gold chains and did not name any serving or former employee who he suspected. “Mane also runs a unit where gold is melted by four employees to prepare chains sold to jewellers in the local market. The store keys remain in possession of the owner.”
Mane has not identified the two men captured on CCTV camera. “We have recovered a digital video recorder from the store. We are trying to establish the identity of the thieves. We hope to detect the case soon,” he said. Once the thieves get identified, investigations would establish how they came in possession of the master keys, he added.

Trichy's Fort police are investigating a burglary at a house in Kanagambaram Street. The owner, R Sankar, reported that 12.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments, 180g of silver articles, and 5,000 rupees were stolen from the locked house. The incident occurred while the owner was away in Thiruvisanallur village. The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
11 rescued as fire breaks out at jewellery store
A fire broke out in the AC unit of an imitation jewellery store in the Acme Shopping Centre on Jain Mandir Road in Malad West. 11 people, including four women, were rescued. No injuries were reported. The fire was extinguished by 9.22 pm. Three shops in the shopping complex were gutted.
