Crocs debuts McDonald’s Grimace shoes — and fans have thoughts

Put your Shrek Crocs away, it’s time to break out the Grimace Crocs.

McDonald’s is the latest brand to collaborate with Crocs for a collection of their classic clogs inspired by the fast food chain’s favorite mascots.

The collection includes four versions of the clog, all of which come with McDonald’s-themed Jibbitz, including a classic clog with the signature red and yellow color scheme, just like Ronald McDonald. The chain’s Birdie and Hamburglar characters also inspired two pairs of Crocs.

But the fan favorite is destined to be the purple Cozzzy Slide Grimace Crocs, of course — a take on Crocs’ fleece-lined slide-on shoe.

And social media users were thrilled to see the character as part of the Crocs collection.

“I don’t wear crocs but those Grimace joints look MAD comfortable,” one said.

“I want the McD’s grimace crocs so bad lmao,” another admitted.

“Nah the grimace crocs are ISNANE,” someone exclaimed.

Grimace has had quite the glow-up this year, turning into an online sensation and LGBTQ icon after being brought back for an ad campaign and taking over all of McDonald’s social media accounts.

Brian Bates, the manager of a McDonald’s in Windsor, Canada, claimed that Grimace is “an enormous taste bud” whose purpose is to simply show that food tastes good.

It’s unclear exactly when these will be available from Crocs’ retailers, but they should be “coming soon.” McDonald's x Crocs

The purple legend first appeared in the Ronald McDonald universe in 1971 as the four-armed “evil Grimace,” who would steal customers’ milkshakes, according to the Washingtonian.

The character was later rebranded as a two-armed happier version after the purple mascot reportedly scared children.

The character even had his own shake at McDonald’s, a berry-boosted beverage that marks Grimace’s birthday and captures the character’s “iconic color and sweetness,” which sparked a viral TikTok trend.

It’s unclear exactly when these will be available from Crocs’ retailers, but they should be “coming soon.” According to Sneaker News, the sandals will be released for kids and adults and range from $50 to $60.

This isn’t Crocs’ first collaboration featuring a beloved character. In July, Crocs unveiled a swampy new collaboration with everyone’s most beloved ogre, Shrek.

Crocs and Shrek are the ultimate swampy sole-mates from a land far, far away,” a spokesperson for the shoe brand told The Post at the time.

The new “wonderfully hideous” version of the brand’s Classic Clog is inspired by the animated character’s aesthetics, with a slime-green base to match the ogre’s skin tone.
