STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- If you purchased weighted groceries or bagged fruit from Walmart over the past six years, you may be eligible to make a claim in an ongoing $45 million class action lawsuit. You just have to do it before June 5.

According to terms of the suit, which was filed in Florida, Walmart falsely inflated product weight, mislabeled the weight of bagged produce and overcharged for clearance items.

Customers who purchased eligible weighted groceries from Walmart between Oct. 19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024, qualify to be included in the settlement and have started to receive emails about further action. The settlement, however, has not been fully approved, USA Today has reported. A final approval hearing has been scheduled for June 12, 2024, and customers have until June 5, 2024, to submit a claim. Anyone who wishes to be excluded from the settlement has until May 22, 2024, to opt-out.

Those who purchased an eligible product and have a receipt “will be entitled to receive 2% of the total cost of the substantiated Weighted Goods and Bagged Citrus Purchased, capped at five hundred dollars ($500.00),” according to the settlement’s website.

Anyone who doesn’t have a receipt could still submit a claim for a payment between $10 and $25, the suit advised, depending on how many products they attest to purchasing.
