Both gold and silver prices recorded a hike on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Gold futures, maturing on June 5, 2024, stood at Rs 71,102 per 10 grams on the MCX, after recording a jump of Rs 190 or 0.27 per cent. The previous close was recorded at Rs 70,912.

Meanwhile, silver futures, maturing on May 3, 2024, witnessed a hike of Rs 22 or 0.03 per cent and were retailing at Rs 81,897 per kg on the MCX against the previous close of Rs 81,875.

The gold and silver prices in India depend on several factors, including the value of the rupee against the dollar. Global demand also plays a key role in determining the trends observed in the rate of precious metals.

GOLD, SILVER PRICES IN INTERNATIONAL MARKET

Gold prices rose on Tuesday, hovering near a record peak hit in the previous session, supported by firm central bank buying, while investors watched out for the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting minutes and inflation data for fresh signals, news agency Reuters reported.

According to the latest metal report, spot gold was up by 0.2 per cent at $2,343.76 per ounce by 0313 GMT, while, U.S. gold futures rose 0.5 per cent at $2,362.6 per ounce.

Among other precious metals, spot silver fell 0.1 per cent to $27.81 per ounce.
