Retail giant Walmart announced it will implement “sensory-friendly” hours daily at every store across the country beginning on Friday, Nov. 10.

The company is aiming to help neuro-diverse people with sensory disabilities between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. by changing the TV walls to a static image, turning off the radio, and lowering the lights.

This effort is being made to make a calmer atmosphere with a less stimulating environment. It tested sensory-friendly hours during back-to-school shopping season and found the feedback to be “positive.”

“We love being part of a team that can help create a culture where everyone feels they belong,” the company said in a release. “Belonging looks different for each person, but when we listen and value everyone’s perspectives, thoughtful change can happen.”

Walmart managers noticed that its staffers found benefits from the sensory-friendly hours.

“Several associates expressed the desire to continue the program all year. We have associates with autism and ADHD,” said Tyler Morgan, a Walmart store manager.
