NEW DELHI: A United Airlines flight from London to Newark in New Jersey was diverted to Bangor International Airport after the situation turned chaotic due to a couple of inebriated passengers.
The airline confirmed that two intoxicated individuals caused disturbance onboard United Airlines Flight 883. Upon landing in Bangor, both passengers were deboarded from the plane.
They will face a ban from future flights.
The flight, originally carrying 150 passengers, later resumed its journey to New Jersey.
Law enforcement officers from the Bangor Police Department were present at the airport when Boeing 767 landed. The FBI and Customs and Border Protection are now investigating the incident.
One of the individuals involved has been detained following consultation with federal prosecutors. The FBI has stated that the incident is unrelated to terrorism.
