Chennai: US-based industrial automation company Rockwell Automation is set to open a 98,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Chennai, it said on Tuesday. The facility is expected to become operational in the first half of 2025 and will employ about 230 workers by the end of that year, the company said. To be located at Sholinganallur SEZ, where its cubic manufacturing facility is located, the company is eyeing supply chain integration.
Cubic specialises in modular enclosure systems for construction of power and electrical panels.
Rockwell hopes this facility will make its supply chain more resilient in the Asia-Pacific region . This location can create synergies with our existing Cubic facility and increase productivity, said Dilip Sawhney, managing director of Rockwell Automation, India. “We’re excited about building our presence in India, optimising our manufacturing on a global scale, and enhancing the future of industrial operations in this growing market.” Rockwell is investing in India by expanding its manufacturing presence and building a new factory in Chennai, the company said in a statement, adding, “India’s economic policies will continue to have a significant impact on the global economy, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and innovation.” State industries minister TRB Rajaa said the development will solidify Tamil Nadu’s position as an emerging global advanced manufacturing hub. The new Rockwell facility will enhance the region’s manufacturing ecosystem even more, he added.
This expansion was made possible by proactive measures and discussions held by the Tamil Nadu industries department with Rockwell Automation chief executive Blake Moret at World Economic Forum, Davos, the minister noted.
