RLJ Lodging: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ) on Thursday reported a key measure of profitability in its first quarter. The results beat Wall Street expectations.

The real estate investment trust, based in Bethesda, Maryland, said it had funds from operations of $56.1 million, or 35 cents per share, in the period.

The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for funds from operations of 32 cents per share.

Funds from operations is a closely watched measure in the REIT industry. It takes net income and adds back items such as depreciation and amortization.

The company said it had net income of $4.4 million, or 3 cents per share.

The hotel real estate investment trust, based in Bethesda, Maryland, posted revenue of $314.5 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $306.8 million.

For the current quarter ending in June, RLJ Lodging expects its per-share funds from operations to range from 51 cents to 57 cents.
