Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank has named Stephanie Green as its new South Florida region president. She succeeds Jim Weiss in leading a territory that includes Miami, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples.

Fifth Third Bank is tapping a longtime member of its Columbus team to spearhead one of its fast-growing Southern markets.

On May 23, the Cincinnati-based lender announced Stephanie Green as its new South Florida region president. She succeeds Jim Weiss in leading a territory that includes Miami, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples.

In her new role, Green is responsible for the growth and strategic direction of the bank’s (Nasdaq: FITB) commercial, wealth and asset management, business banking and treasury management businesses.

Green, who will be based in Naples, has spent her more than 30-year career with Fifth Third, having progressed through multiple leadership positions in retail, business banking, human capital, mortgage, and wealth and asset management. Most recently, she was managing director of Fifth Third Private Bank in the bank’s Central Ohio region.

Her appointment to this new role comes as Fifth Third continues to double down on its growth efforts in key Southern markets. In March, CEO Tim Spence told the Courier the bank will be among the few large banks to actually grow its branch network over the coming year, citing expansion plans in several Southern cities.

Fifth Third currently has 76 full-service banking centers and more than 550 employees in its South Florida region. A spokesperson said the bank plans to add more locations on Florida's Southeast coast over the next several years.

“Stephanie’s experience across a broad spectrum of business and functional areas is good news for the region,” said Kris Garrett, group regional president and head of wealth and asset management. "She has the expertise, the relationship skills and the strategic vision to continue the growth trajectory Fifth Third has enjoyed in the region, and to build upon it."

Downtown-based Fifth Third is the largest locally based bank and the ninth-largest U.S.-based consumer bank. It also ranks as Cincinnati's third-largest public company, with $8.38 billion in 2022 revenue, according to Courier research.
