Losing a job can be a life-changing experience and ever since this year began, many techies have gone through the same fate. Companies that were once considered to be the best workplaces in the tech world have laid off employees left, right and center in order to cut down costs. IT giant Accenture also laid off a whopping 19,000 employees at the beginning of this year and impacted employees took to LinkedIn and shared their experiences.

More recently, the company cut several jobs in the US quietly. An employee impacted by the recent US layoffs shared on LinkedIn that he is all set to "embrace new professional challenges." Accenture employee shares note after being laid off

"After an enriching 4.5 years at Accenture, this week I'll be moving on to embrace new professional challenges. While bittersweet, this transition is an exciting chance to pursue fresh opportunities and spend cherished time with family. I'm tremendously grateful for my time at Accenture and the exceptional Trust and Safety team I worked alongside. I had the privilege of collaborating with talented colleagues and Meta, gaining invaluable relationships and industry knowledge," he wrote in his post.

He then added that he is now eager to put his expertise to use in "operations, program/project management, training, quality, and data analysis" in a new organization. He also thanked his network for their support and encouragement all these years.

"Working in different areas has equipped me with a diverse and valuable skillset that will be an asset as I take on new challenges. Though I will miss the many wonderful people I have worked with, I am thrilled for what lies ahead. Please keep me in mind if you come across an opportunity that matches my background. I look forward to staying connected," the former Accenture employee added.

Accenture skips pay hikes

Last month, Accenture had sent an email to all employees in India and Sri Lanka, saying that they will not be getting salary hikes this year. However, they added that this doensn't apply to all divisions in the country.

Accenture India's managing director, Ajay Vij, conveyed the company's decision to employees.

In the email, Vij explained that Accenture's compensation strategy aims to provide competitive pay based on skills and location while remaining affordable for the company. Consequently, the company will not grant base pay increases this year except where legally required or in specific critical skill areas.

The email also stated that individual performance bonuses will be given based on contributions, but they will be "significantly lower than last year." Additionally, the company is reducing promotions. Promotions up to the level of Associate Director (Level 5) will take place as scheduled in December but at a reduced rate compared to the previous year. Promotions for levels 1 through 4 have been postponed until June 2024 to align with company growth objectives.
