Millions of Brits have been treated to an extra day off today, August 28, due to the bank holiday. 

And many will be enjoying their long weekend, adding to the array of bank holidays gifted this year. 

However, due to the bank holiday, a number of fast-food restaurants will be operating on reduced hours. 

To make sure you're not caught out by the altered hours, here are the opening times for some major fast-food restaurants.

You can find the opening hours for your nearest restaurant on the McDonald's website by clicking the 'Locate' button and entering your town, city or location information in the search bar.

KFC

A KFC Spokesperson has confirmed that the fast-food restaurant is open for the bank holiday. 

But, they said, be sure to check the website to see the latest opening times at your local restaurant. 

By typing in your town or postcode, you can find out the hours of your nearest branch.  

Starbucks

Starbucks' opening hours are likely to vary depending on location, so customers should check their local store via the website

Starbucks have confirmed that their stores will operate with usual opening times, customers can find their local store opening times on the Store Locator website on our website.

Greggs 

Greggs opening times will vary across the country over the bank holiday. 

Some branches will stick to their usual opening times, while others will be closed completely. 

The bakery chain has approximately 2,000 stores across the country so be sure to check your local branch's hours before heading out.

When is the next bank holiday?

Brits have been treated to a plethora of bank holidays this year, due to extra day off in May to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

Unfortunately workers will have to wait a while for the next one, which isn't until Christmas Day, December 25 and Boxing Day, December 26. 

Brits will also have to prepare themselves for the usual eight-day bank holidays awarded in 2024. Which are as follows 

  • Monday, January 1: New Years Day 
  • Friday, March 29: Good Friday 
  • Monday, April 1: Easter Monday 
  • Monday, May 6: Early May bank holiday 
  • Monday, May 29: Spring bank holiday 
  • Monday, August 26: Summer bank holiday 
  • Wednesday, September 25: Christmas Day 
  • Thursday, December 26: Boxing Day
