Mastercard and Invest India announced the launch of an enhanced priceless.com programme in India on Tuesday. Mastercard said the programme is aimed at 'redefining' experiential travel in India and has been launched with the support and guidance from the tourism ministry.

The priceless.com launch in India is an extension of Mastercard’s global priceless platform that offers over 2,000 curated experiences for Mastercard cardholders in over 40 countries.

As per the Mastercard Economics Institute’s Travel Industry Trends 2023, consumer spending on experiences at travel destinations has seen a sharp increase of 65% in comparison to March 2019, owing to the pent-up demand for travel. Mastercard said the company's programme, under the guidance of ministry of tourism, will not only give a fillip to India’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ endeavour but also provide an opportunity for local and international travel enthusiasts to experience the country’s 'diverse' heritage.

Priceless.com will aim to provide experiences spanning culinary, sports, entertainment, and wellness categories.

Some of the experiences include curated walks through the lanes and by-lanes of Old Agra, a day of wellness with celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija and Bollywood workouts with the celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala.

Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing and communications officer and president, healthcare at Mastercard said India is growing 'incredibly.'

"Every company counts India as a priority market, and Mastercard is no exception. We are investing in this market and want to grow here. The government is trying to get more inbound tourists into the country and this is something that we can do extremely well," he said.

"This fits in with the core of Mastercard's business model wherein we curate experiences that people can get exclusively through Mastercard. We will be marketing the extraordinary experiences that Mastercard will curate in India across 210 countries and territories after doing the analysis of which corridors make the most economic sense," he added.

Rajamannar further said that the programme would be available to the 2.2 billion cardholders of Mastercard. "But, where we market this programme would depend on where there is a critical mass of potential tourists in an origin country," he added.
